What is Yoga-cycle?
Yoga-cycle is a cycling-specific, sequenced asana training program, individually tailored to the demands of your body mechanics and personal riding style. Yoga-cycle will develop a sequenced asana practice designed to maximize your own body's ability to perform at it's highest level, avoid injuries and HAVE MORE FUN!
By integrating the ideas of alignment based yoga therapy in the development of your overall training program, the Yoga-cycle program can help you to increase performance, minimize risk of injury, speed recovery, relieve discomfort and, most importantly, HAVE MORE FUN! Whether you are an ultramarathoner, cyclocross or mountain bike racer, time trialer, road racer, or a commuter/weekender, Yoga-cycle can help you find your personal peak and HAVE MORE FUN!
After an initial discussion of your cycling goals, including an evaluation of your body mechanics, an Asana Sequencing session will be scheduled. During this session you will be introduced to the first five or six asanas (yoga postures) that will form the foundation of your practice. Jim will instruct you in the proper form and function of each asana, fully explaining how each asana sequence builds from a foundation of basic alignments to a performance-enhancing tool. Further sessions, usually one every week, will introduce further refinements to your sequence and begin to incorporate classical meditation and breathing techniques (pranayama) into your training and practice. By approaching your cycling training in this way, a solid foundation of healthy practices is developed, allowing your body to acheive a much higher level of fitness and HAVE MORE FUN!
All Yoga-cycle practicioners are provided with a personalized manual containing thier individualized asana sequences, alignment guides, meditation and pranayama guides and suggestions on recovery. After each session where new asanas or concepts are introduced, an updated guide will be e-mailed to you. These tools are essential in developing your daily and weekly routine and are an exclusive service provided by Yoga-cycle.
The cost for Yoga-cycle training is comparable to private yoga lessons. The initial Body Mechanics Evaluation, Basic Asana Sequencing and Introductory Training is $210.00, and takes place over three 90-120 minute sessions. After the Introductory Training, each 90 minute individual session is $65.00. Each session includes an asana practice, alignment instruction, breathing excercise (pranayama) and recovery practice. For scheduling convenience, sessions can be held in your home. Outdoor sessions (weather permitting) are especially enjoyable. All Yoga-cycle instructors are certified and registered with Yoga Alliance. Yoga-cycle is fully insured through Sports and Fitness Insurance, Madison, MS.
